Cootiephobia

I have been avoiding topical subjects and politics, but I am so confused by the transsexual bathroom issue that I had to put something down, just to see if I could discern a logic through typing.

As most of us know, people go to the bathroom to "go to the bathroom." Not to have sex, or watch other people wash their hands, or judge other people for not washing their hands. I have traveled this earth for more than 50 years, and peed in a lot of places, not all of them fancy. This observation holds up.

The only reason I can fathom for the current brouhaha is a pathological fear of cooties. Because apparently our species never got out of beta testing, people use the same area for urination as for sex, and this requires a brief exposure to the air when peeing. Which means, I guess, that since the sexytime bits are ALSO exposed to the air, and since the vagina = the self, airborne vaginal contamination by any penises also touching the air in the same room is taking place, and the woman’s whole self is sullied by the penis-exposed air. That’s the only rationale I can cobble together.

The idea that people are going to the bathroom to have sex comes from porn. In real- not Penthouse Forum- life, the only things that happen in bathrooms that shouldn’t all involve unwanted conversation. You want to make bathrooms a true safe space, institute a No Engagement policy, because the only fear I have ever had in a public bathroom is that someone will try to chat.
